okkkkkkkkkkkkk

well those in England know we have bad times at the moment, actually the US as well (grin). Mark came home last night with the news that his company might be taking the decision that we all dread-today he was made redundant. He finishes his current job at the end of the month, they are giving him a month's money in lieu of notice (nice of them) and that's on top of the redundancy package that is still being finalised...and they're letting him have time off for job hunting and interviews?

car breakdowns

Ok, now I'm steaming. Around four maybe five weeks ago we traded in our Ford Mondeo for a Zaphira-now that might not be the right spelling I know?
It lasted a week before it started kangaroo hopping on the road up to the Midlands (Mark was camping Easter weekend). Lucky for him he got cold feet (before the rest of the camp did:-)) and turned back home.
The car dealer we bought it off, leant him a little Ford Focus as a courtesy car.
Mark phoned about 545 tonight to say the Focus has conked out and won't go. He's phned the AA, they know he's diabetic and have said they're on the way, and gave him an ETA.
He phoned them again 20 mins after that ETA to ask where they are and finally a local chap turns up to have a look and he can't fix it! So Mark (who luckily had two cereal bars with him) is still stuck on the side of the A14 downwind of a truck stop, waiting for a tow truck to pick him and the courtesy car up so he can get home and cook some tea>
And tomorrow morning he either can phone the car dealer and ask for a second courtesy car or charge up the motorbike battery overnight... and its cutoff week I think which means loadsa paperwork

I had a phone call from Andrew at Blue Arrow saying I'd gotten through to the interview stage and what time would I like, 1.30 or 2.15 on Thursday? So if anyone would like to, please cross your fingers or whatever at 1.30UK time on Thursday 7th of February?
Its a receptionist vacancy in Ipswich so I haven't got to travel but I'll have to get used to wearing a suit for work (Suisan will you stop sniggering) if I get through this interview then get the magic phone call/letter?

For the last two days, we've had no trains running up to work? But mid afternoon yesterday, they were back-just in time for me to get a lift home with a workmate:-)
So I cycled down to the station today, got my daily escort across the line to park my bike on the train and legged it back to the buffet for my fix of a medium hot chocolate and a chocolate muffin?
Got to Bury and its starting to drizzle, good job I had the waterproofs on-although no offense they act like a sauna so I hope I lose weight quicker?

For those in the know, I have been searching for alternative employment and it's been an interesting week?
I applied for a vacancy last Friday but one, which was a receptionist/admin assistant approximately 40 miles away. How would I get there-there's a train service that runs quite regularly?
I went to register at the agency who was the contact for the vacancy, and she suggested that 'as I was in town, would it be more convenient that she try and get me in for interview that day?'
So guys and girls, as the saying goes, I 'winged it' and got a lovely phone call on Friday saying...you've guessed I got the job?!
I got verbal confirmation on Friday, just waiting for the written confirmation to come through and my letter of resignation is ready to submit to Tesco...
Yeah, its gonna be wrench to leave the place where I've been for the last twenty years, but I want to spread my wings and pay off some debts too?

They've been offered a bungalow/single story house on London Road, not far from ours? She's so determined to move asap, they're moving next weekend! And most of it is being done on Sunday! So she tells me I won't be at church in the morning, but I will be there in the evening for the carol service...but we can;t take them out for a meal to save her cooking cos Focus (Dad's works) are having their do the same night, after the service? Oy vey!

Dishwasher solutions...

A little while back, we traded in our old dishwasher as basically it died? The new model is about the same size, sits on thw orktop, does what its supposed to do-except for one small problem?
When you need to put some dishwasher salt in, this model has no dispenser! The old Bosch had a tray that you just fill then plug it into the side of the machine, and it flips over and fills it up? This one has the screw cap in the insode, and a HOLE? Mark and I have been filling it using a minute scoop which takes FOREVER until tonight!
We cracked it!
We had a problem with limescale so I bought some Steredent, falling back on a old trick the store café used to do which was steep the teapots?
Hence we now have an empty Steredent tube, which nicely tips the salt into the machine! You tip the salt down a funnel into the tube and it takes four tubes and that's it? NA PROBLEM!!

ok I'm celebrating!

cos I just passed my first aid course! Every three years you have to take a refresher exam cos everything changes over? Cor blimey my knees are knackered-you now have to do thirty compressions...it used to be fifteen? In case you're wondering what I'm talking about, if you are trained to do CPR, you now check they're breathing, if they're not breathing, its now more important to get the heart pumpoing what oxygen may be in the body round, then you do the two inflations....mind you, wouldn;t you be worn out after those 30 chest compressions?
